*Update, this restaurant is now the Harbour Master, which I have yet to visit*
This was not a fantastic restaurant, and it wasn’t terrible either, just average.
We arrived at the restaurant, which is located inside the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t very busy, so the atmosphere was more quiet, however, the hostess managed to seat us right next to the only other couple in the restaurant. Bush League mistake. We noticed that the restaurant was quite cold (again for Perth standards), and a draft was coming in the door beside us.
We shared the toasted sourdough and tapenade to start, which was nice but well overpriced at $9.90 for four slices of bread and a bit of oil and olives. For main, I ordered the wild mushroom and asparagus risotto topped with truffle oil and freshly shaved parmesan ($26.50), which was full of flavour and a delicious consistency, and I paired it with the Kim Crawford pinot noir (not my favourite pinot noir, but still a nice choice). Steph ordered the corn fed supreme of chicken, served with wok fried spinach, red onion and cherry tomato, sweet potato puree and basil cream ($31.90), which she found to be average, and she paired with the Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc, which frankly was too sweet for either of our likings.

For dessert we shared the Kiwi fruit and strawberry Pavlova with berry coulis and chocolate shavings ($15.90), which was light and delicious, but once again overpriced for what was served. Steph tried one of the cocktails (a nice list), which was a Long Island Iced Tea with apple juice, and I had a Penfolds Club port.
Overall my impression of the restaurant was that it was a nice venue, easily accessible, with classy decor. The staff were friendly, and the food had good flavour and was well presented, but the price did not match the food served, I was not impressed with the seating (directly next to the only other people in the restaurant, and the tables were quite close together), and none of the food was better than standard.
