This little Italian eatery in Applecross is fantastic! We discovered it tonight for dinner when looking for a new Italian place, and we were pleasantly rewarded! Don’t let the front entrance fool you, this is an absolute gem! The simple tables are spread throughout a room absolutely filled with stunning pictures of Italy. Some sports memorabilia gives away an AFL fan (Australian Football League – if you don’t know what AFL is you should really learn).
We decided on the garlic bread as a starter,
then for mains we shared a New York Pizza, and the Tortellini. The garlic bread was fantastic, perfectly crispy and well buttered. The tortellini was a bit bland, but nevertheless enjoyable pasta. The pizza is what it’s all about folks. This is the best pizza I have had in Australia to date. It is the only pizza I have found that can be compared to true American-style pizza (I must warn any North Americans coming to WA, that although major chains such as Domino’s and Pizza Hut do exist here, they are NOT at all the same thing, I will write another post in the Advice section covering this topic).
Overall I think that this will definitely become a favourite for us. The service was prompt and friendly, and being a BYO restaurant, we brought our own bottle of wine and they offered us a ice bucket, which we have found is not often the case and was a nice touch. It seems like quite a popular place, and table were turning over in a matter of seconds, so I would probably recommend getting there early or expecting a wait, I don’t know if they take reservations.
My rating: 4.5/5.
